Anyone out there have any ideas on a garage door opener? I'm trying to decide wether to have the builder install one or not. He gets $300. Not sure of the quality. The top of line one at Lowes is $258 My garage door is 20x7. at some point I may go up to 20x8. The garage is built with that in mind.

My assumption is that the builder is going to install the bare minimum, unless you specify otherwise and pay more!

Considering this, it would only depend on what your time is worth! If the garage is pre-wired for the garage door opener, it would only take half a day to install one yourself.

Personally, I would just have the builder do it and have the cost rolled into your mortgage.
