Just thought someone might like to know, I had my dryer fixed last week and the repairman said it was a result of using fabric softner sheets! Something in the fabric softner clogs up the lint filter and prevents airflow. This causes the dryer to overheat and the heating element to go bad prematurely. He showed me by pouring water on the lint filter. It doesn't look like it's clogged, because the film is clear, but water wouldn't go throught the filter.
He recommends using a liquid fabric softener in the washer , or the occational cleaning of the of the lint filter with a mild detergent. |

| He said that the same residue can build up on the moister sensor, on automatic dryers, the one that tells the dryer that your clothes are dry. This can prevent the dryer from drying properly. |
