Today my wife gave me a problem that even I couldn't fix.

She noticed that when the kids briskly close the refrigerator door, the freezer door pops open and stays open.

The seal seems to be good so I don't now whether to replace it or not. Could it bee something else?

The door is popping open because if the air rushing from the refrigerator to the freezer when you shut it. I'm assuming that when you gently close the door it stays shut. If this is the case do the following:

1. Tilt the whole refrigerator so the front is higher than the back slightly. Refrigerators are not designed to be level, it should be tilted backward slightly so a door tries to swing shut gently if let go. There should be a way to adjust the front feet or rollers without moving the unit, so jack it up a bit.

2. Lubricate the door seal by the hinge with vasoline of food grade silicone spray. This is the part of the seal that contacts first when closing the door. When this magnetic seal touch it provides friction and resists closing of the door.

The should do the trick.

You could try super glue magnets to the fridge and door or install a hook on the side and tie a budgie cord to the handle. Good luck!

Handnhammer, that is great advice on the fridge and door problem. I too was experiencing this and I had a friend tell me the same thing! It worked so I just wanted to vouch for the results.

This things happens to us too. My father did something in our fridge and it closes again. I think he put something on it but I did not see it. I will try to remember this and ask my father when I will go back home.
