I'm replacing the cabinet, and have to work alone. Sad

Is there any easy way to position a wall cabinet and keep it there while I screw it to the wall?

Use a scissors jack, a peice of 1x6, and some blocks of wood.

Use the blocks of wood to increase the height of the scissors jack, and secure the 1x6 to the top of the scissors jack to increase the the stabilizing area of the jack. Then just jack the cabinet up! Make sure the cabinet center of gravity is between the wall and the jack placement, so if the cabinet leans, it leans against the wall!

This is not the most stable method in the world, but it works!

I have a "BUDDY BOX!" It's a box about 1' wide by 2' long, and the height of the distance between the counter top and the bottom of the wall cabinets (about 16.5").

I also carry a couple scraps of wood and shims to tweak the height if I'm working on an uneven surface.

I have always just used a wall cleat made out of scrap 1x or 2x material. Just measure the distance up the wall you want the bottom of the cabinet to be, and make a mark. Attach the cleat to the wall at this mark, insuring the cleat is level. Rest the cabinet on the cleat with one hand and screw the cabinet to the wall with the other. Please take into account the screw hole made from the cleat will need to be patched. I use this method on new construction jobs. For remodes, I have a Cabinet stand for wall cabs. You can purchase one from rockler.com for $60.

Resins, organic materials which convert from liquid to solid form, are used to manufacture engineered wood (e.g., particleboard) frequently used to build kitchen cabinet car cases can be a factor.
