Believe it or not...sometimes the master needs some help. Wink

I have laminate counter tops in my kitchen and there are faint stains in them. You barely notice them, but they drive me insane! I've tried all sorts of things: bleach, oxiclean, baking soda, vinegar, detergent, all sorts of cleaners. Some have helped but not totally. It seems the stain/dirt is ground into the laminate.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remove this?

I've found this to work very well, after trying just about every chemical known to man; Goof Off, applied liberally and GENTLY scrubbed with Scotch kitchen scrubber...the black one on the back of a sponge. It's usually not necessary to do multiple applications, but just gently scrub the same application several times until the stain is gone.

I can't quite picture what your problem is, but in the future, keep the bathroom stuff in the bathroom. Try the baking powder paste. If the laminate is more than about 5-10 years old and used by renters, good chance the finish is already scratched (why the oil sunk in). Mine is 30 years old and when I get a stain, I use a product containing bleach or bleach. yep, I make a bleach solution and wipe it on the counter top, let it sit a few minutes and then rinse off well. A bleach product would be Soft Scrub. I realize the top layer of the Formica is gone/scratched, I'd not use the bleach on a new surface, no way. But on mine, who cares. After wards I use a temporary sealer for kitchen counters and cabinets.......oh jeez, pink container, hard to find.......argh! (sorry) Puts the shine back but doesn't last more than a week or two.
