| I have a fiberglass bumper that cracked when I hit a curb. the paint has also started to chip away around the crack. What is the best way to fix this? |

Here is a great ARTICLE that applies to boats. It's probably too extensive for your job, but will give you all the pertinent and important info.
Also this ARTICLE gives some good info on exterior/cosmetsic techniques, which is important for your job.
I'll also email this thread to my father's neighbor, he built a fiberglass kit car and has extensive experience working with composites. He might be able to provide further insight.
Cheers! |

Well...I emailed my father and he talked to his neighbor, here is an excerpt from his reply:
"He doesn't have an email address, but said that it would be best to remove the bumper and repair from the inside.
As for Fiberglassing, he said that there are enough variables like humidity, temperature, and materials that it warrants getting a book 'such as from the library' to have proper instructions."
Sorry I can't provide all the answers, but it seems there is more too this than the what my little brain can provide. Maybe someone else has insight.
Hope this helps. |
