So my mother-in-law is visiting the other day. I notice that her new rollaboard suitcase has a problem. One of the wheels had a blow out. The suitcase had been loaned to my sister-in-law for a trip to Mexico. Somemwhere between RDU and Mexico, the CAL bag smashers did some of their prizewinning work to this thing. This was a brand-new bag!!!! Oh well. So I've loaned her one of my bags, and repairs have commenced. I thought that I could just go down to Wal-Mart, and get a pack of rollerblade wheels to make the repair. Not so. Nobody in Douglasville, GA sells rollerblade wheels. After Wal-Mart, I tried the thrift stores and pawn shops. I figured I buy a pair of blades, rob the wheels, and discard the rest. No luck. None at the local bicycle shops or sporting goods either. The closest *beep* sporting goods is about 45 mins from here. I guess I'll have to make the drive.... Anyone have any ideas where I can get some cheap (or free!) 76mm rollerblade wheels? I do not want to order from the internet, as I need to measure the bearing seats to be sure they'll work on this suitcase.

Personally, I would order them off the Internet if I were in your situation. I think most roller bags have standard inline skate/skateboard bearings in them (ABEC 3). Though, I'm sure some cheaper bags have non-standard bearings in them, because most roller bags don't have true skate wheels.

In fact, I replace my roller bag wheels with real inline skate wheels with ABEC 5 bearings when I buy them. One can buy wheels for skates with various hardness, but your average consumer wheel is fairly soft. Soft is good on roller bags, because it reduces the shock on the bearing and wheel housing when you drag your bag over curbs. I learned the hard way that the wheels they put in roller bags are very cheap! The bearings blow out easily!

I get my REAL skate wheels and bearings at the Stop-Over-Store in KMSP. They have replaced them for me right after I purchased a new PNT or Travel-Pro bag. Though I don't know if you have a Stop-Over-Store in KATL.
