Does anyone know how to remove wax from carpeting?

To make a long story short, my wife kicked the nightstand and a candle spilled on the carpet! Embarassed

Follow these basic steps, and you'll get the carpet looking like new!

  1. Scrape up most of the hardened wax off the carpet. Make sure you use something that will limit or prevent damage to the carpet fibres, such as a plastic knife or scraper. Certainly avoid sharp metal scraping devices. Most of the wax should be removed with this step.
  2. Next, place at least two layers of paper towels or paper grocery bags on the wax spot and the surrounding area.
  3. Use an iron on the lowest heat setting and no steam, and swiftly glide the iron over the towel/bags where the wax is. This action melts the wax. and as the wax melts the towel/bags absorb the wax. Do this multiple times with fresh towels/bags, and remember to avoid direct carpet contact with the iron! An iron on even the lowest setting will melt any synthetic carpet or rug.
  4. After all the wax seems to be removed, use a cleaner (see link below!) to pretreat the spot, and then steam clean the whole area. Make sure you test the cleaner on a hidden portion of you carpet to make sure it's OK to use.

you can use these tips it works..
1. After wax hardens, scrape up excess with a dull knife.
2. Place part of a paper bag over the remaining wax.
3. Place a warm iron over the bag and press gently.
4. Repeat until all the wax is transferred to the paper bag.
